No Forests, No Future. Forests are our lifeline - not just for biodiversity or climate, but for people, culture, and our shared future. That is why the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) matters so deeply - and why repeated delays are alarming. The EUDR was created to ensure that commodities like coffee, cocoa, soy, beef, and timber entering the EU are not linked to deforestation or forest degradation. But now, the European Commission has proposed another one-year delay, pushing enforcement to December 2026. This setback threatens to undo years of progress toward sustainable, transparent supply chains. Every year we lose millions of hectares of forests — in 2024 alone, 6.7 million hectares vanished, an area nearly the size of Ireland. When laws like the EUDR are delayed, the message is clear: economic convenience is taking priority over planetary survival.
