Think the best way to learn to draw is just draw. This is all good information but it can be overwhelming and art is super unquie imo where as you don’t reallly need base line foundations to start. Just let the ink or pencil guide you. To see improvement then yes courses,books, references etc all will help.

its funny that you recommended against a beginning drawing course after mentioning drawing on the right side of the brain because my intro community college course taught from that book lol. classes can be very hit or miss though, solely depends on the instructor

I learned to draw as an adult too! Started at about 25 as a way to learn to become a 2d animator and by 30 I was able to get a job doing it professionally.

It's crazy how my art education journey is like 100000 lessons, but only 10 or so Critical, KEY sentences and concepts that expanded my knowledge-base more in a second than in years of lessons 😳 Everybody's brain needs to hear the right language to function as keys to new rooms

@N. Colin Dyer‘s “art hack” series of videos have been incredibly helpful for so many tricky components. the way he explains stuff just breaks it down in a way that really makes so much sense, and feels really actionable.
