@all_panik_no_disko: BEFORE YOU COME FOR ME IN THE COMMENTS: 1. He knew I was recording. 2. I did EVERYTHING I could to help him/save his life prior to this. 3. Loved ones of addicts often need proof of their use because we spend years being gaslit and told a return to use/relapse never happened. 4. If he ever found his way back to Recovery again, I wanted to show him this as a way to prevent him from using again. 5. and if you’ve never loved somebody who struggles with addiction, don’t even bother leaving a comment. I have always had Steve’s permission to share our story publicly because he knew I would use it to help others. #wi#widowd#addictiond#addictionawarenessr#griefjourneye#recovery
I know that look. In his eyes. They all have the same look...

Loving an addict is life changing and unless you've experienced it personally, you truly don't understand how awful it truly is.

😭the hardest thing I’ve gone through (going through). The guilt, the deep sadness, the anger, the immense love. Coming to the realization that I can’t save him is overwhelming.

They hardest part is...we remember every bit of it and they dont remember any of it. Both situations bring immense emotional pain.

Trust. That’s what “it’s gonna take”. He needs someone to have his back not someone to talks to him like he’s 12. 🤷🏽♂️

I had 5 years of sobriety and then I relapsed. Trust me, no one is as disappointed and upset than our very selves.

38 year addict/alcoholic 1st rule of recovery. 1. You cannot help someone who doesn’t want help. They will do everything you want, and the second you turn your back ? At it again.

The worst thing is grieving someone that is still alive. That was the hardest part for me.

It’s so sad to watch .. heartbreaking … the empathy alternates with the anger … I was where you were … never knowing which call you’d get .. 🙏🏻
