Completely disagree just because of the use of “most men” throughout the video. This logic can be reversibly applied to women about “men” things. Let people like what they like. There will always be trend hopping, and sure some guys will pretend to like something to appeal to a woman. No different to pretend to know of a book, movie, restaurant. It goes both ways

in the case of clairo, wouldn't the women fans who discovered her music after she already had a pretty large following of men be the performative ones? it's like joining a fan base or hobbie after its become more popular and then getting upset at those who already were part of the fan base or hobbie before you showed up

Thank you for your take in such a well articulated manner with well thought out opinions and facts. Love seeing these types of dialogues on this app instead of rage bait and radical views pushed as obvious truths.

I was recently thinking this that either way you put it this is reinforcing stereotypes and misogyny, I had to think about it for a while because at first it was funny to me but I think that’s the problem with social issues right now, we accept these “unserious” jokes at face value and not realizing what the bigger picture is

Another commenter said this, but this all reminds me of the same way people claim punk aesthetics while knowing nothing. It’s a result of a patriarchal upbringing and a bad mix of capitalism. When every one is simply looking for the next trend and cool fit to wear the initial reasons for these interest and topics are completely fucking lost. Another commenter said there could be positives to come out of it too, and while I see what he means I think people also forget that half the men who perpetuate the whole feminine stereotype now a days are also known for abusive tendencies. Two complete diff examples Getting into the gym and accidentally finding something u enjoy isn’t really the same.

It’s kind of like the way that “alt” looks are more popular now even with people that don’t realize that it was made to be a counter culture/going against the system kind of thing

I love the words 'nuance' and 'multivariable', when thinking about this topic.

It’s definitely an after effect of aesthetics and the culture behind social media and its tendency to commodify everything and anything to a bland paste that means nothing

While I understand the hesitation around men liking these things, and get your point that men might only like these things superficially due to it being trendy on social media, I think one aspect that might be worth noting is that it could be a gateway for someone who might not normally enjoy more feminine looks or feminist literature to actually enjoy them. This happens a lot in lifting and strength sports circles, where a lot of people get started for superficial reasons (they want to look more in shape), and then end up really loving the process of gradually getting stronger over time, learning how to use one’s body, etc. Might be too optimistic of a thought but I think worth throwing out that additional perspective

So I have to feel deep down and understand what it feels to be a women for me to have a green matcha? All these labels are the same reason men label women certain ways, everything has to have a label these days even for those of us who have no knowledge of what is even going on, I actually found clairo misc in a video game then she came out with her yt pretty girl and blew, more guys listened to clairo before the hype but now with all of this labeling it definitely puts ppl off from enjoying the stuff they liked before the started getting labeled

Gotta love the constant fear of leaving a comment that’s supportive or sharing similar hobbies with something a woman in the video is saying and the most miserable person ever has to come in out of nowhere to say “she’s not going to f you little bro”
