@davidmarethouse: What do y’all think of this traditional Japanese wood preserving technique called Yakisugi (literally translates to burnt cedar)? It is also popularly referred to as Shou Sugi Ban. In this process cedar wood is fire charred and then brushed to create a natural rot, bug, UV, and weather resistant protective layer. After treating all of these reclaimed cedar wood boards with this technique, I assembled this coffee table and added an additional protective clear-coat of spar urethane in a satin sheen. This process creates a chocolate color without the use of any wood stains. As a woodworker, I think this unique technique is absolutely beautiful and I’m excited to use it with future woodworking projects. Custom orders available. It's all in the details! 🪵👌##foryou##fyp##woodworking##woodwork##cowboy
