Ever tried a good modern auto transmission? If you want smooth, try a euro volvo. Guaranteed you cant shift as smoothly as that machine.

smooth shifting is way easier on the truck and what you are carrying you can shift smooth and quickly to if you have the cabality

This right there is an old school professional driver, doesn’t use the clutch and he matches the speed entirely by hearing. And he makes it smoother than any automatic transmission.

If you’d graph out the V loss between shifts you’d see the enormous loss of energy in this ancient tech. Modern automatics are linear. This old stuff is choppy with both V loss and energy loss. To each their own though. A lot of people enjoy the endless stickpushing and excessive noise.

genuine Question mate, UK driver .... is there no clutch needed between changes on yr motor ? are all American trucks like that?

I understand that you are apparently a good truck driver, but you have to admit that while it is more difficult to handle a truck in the USA, shifting gears, etc., in Europe it is more difficult to drive in narrow streets and on smaller roads.and that's why I respect all truck drivers, whether from Europe or the USA or anywhere else

funny l remember all the school buses were crash box's you'd tell within 5 minutes of they had what it took,not that we knew any better at that stage,l remember the frustration lol
