@itsheybad2: Every time I come across racist or xenophobic comments online about Somalis in Minnesota, I feel discouraged about living here, even though I’ve lived in America my whole life and in Minnesota for the past 11 years. But then I go to community events, or even just a day at a Minneapolis parks, and I see Somalis experiencing joy, peace, and happiness. In those moments, I remember exactly why I stay here, because my people are here, and my people are safe. Most of the hateful voices are just online noise, likely from people who don’t even live in Minnesota. What’s real is the love, resilience, and community we continue to build here every day.
