@neuroteachers: #creatorsearchinsights Unpopular opinion but blaming parents isn’t going to improve #behaviour or #attendance in schools. The government’s latest announcements talks about behaviour hubs. Which we tried before. Yet it does mention. #send or #neurodivergent needs. Thoughts? @Lois Nice'n'Neurospicy @simoninclusionteacher @Autistic Teacher @SEND Warrior Mum !
Yup me and it needs to stop. The problem is hardly ever parents. We’re just the easy option, especially when it involves SEN children and their families.

I wonder how poor staff retention, and thereby high levels of cover/temporary/unqualified staff impacts behaviour and attendance?

Can a school force AP, and refuse to educate him if I refuse to send him? They’ve said I send him or they won’t have him in school, or look for another school. It’s not the right thing for him at this time. We are going through Ehcp assessment right now.

To many rules, not treating children as a person. More like a number. Schools are to worried about statistics then a child mental health. This is forcing parents to home ed as schools are not getting to the root of the issues. I believe that all schools should teach child holistic way as all children learn differently. My teen complain to me that most lessons are boring.

As always and with everything they have gone for a sound bite and not covered the nuance. Same as increasing funding for nursery places without tackling the lack of capacity in nurseries.

I feel at the moment no one wants to admit when a child is struggling, because it costs them money. They just want to hang on and pass the buck. The local authorities again don’t want what’s best for the child it’s always how much money they can save. But how much money do they waste? Isn’t early intervention better and more cost effective in the long run?

Do you think the mainstreaming of fear politics (Reform) is fuelling some types of bad behaviour in adults, which is being copied by some children? I think bullying, othering, aggressive jostling for influence are all fear based, and fear is rising. Marginalised children (including neurodivergent ones) are feeling the brunt of it in school, as they are easy targets.

No responsibility on the government or schools to step up and provide the support and care that children, young people and parents deserve. Everyone of school age is legally entitled to a education but when are they going to make education accessible for all!!!

Has there not been any consideration about how these issues are related to wider systemic issues and the ever widening gap of wealth between the classes? Have they also not considered that the education structure hasn’t really changed in decades? Also, are they ignoring the fact that they expect schools to solve all the problems in our communities but offer no funding to do so? So you have stressed out teachers, stressed out parents, stressed out kids…it feels quite obvious to me—am I missing something?

Ive just went through my childs school for not stepping up when I had been trying everything to get them in.
Their class has now been put back to non composite class, my childs anxiety down as its all back to familiar routine with people they took years to understand.
up until last year we had worked together and she was in most of the time.
As a teacher the parents who communicate more generally helps reduce issues as we share best practice etc.

Can we talk about the adult on child bullying culture that is prevalent in TB's 'zero-tolerance' schools? Our teens are angry. They learn inclusion, tolerance and kindness at primary school, so they recognize maltreatment when they arrive at high school. Angry people lash out. Oppressed people rebel. Is it any wonder violent incidents have increased?

the Blame 100% lies with primary schools and the way they deal with children with SEN. if they didn't put so many road blocks in the way when our children need help because of money. if the proper support was their maybe more children would want to learn.

One of my daughters teachers, she's year 7, told her to keep secrets from her parents, involved her in a conversation he had with another parent and then gave her a detention for explaining why she asked a for a ruler. Im not sure it just the kids behaviour we need to be considering here 😂😂

I think you have said what is the truth. All about money and I feel a bit if the mismanagement of money was sorted things might be different. Would allow more suitable settings to exsist.

Sooooo many opinions on this! It’s hard to understand why the department for EDUCATION doesn’t understand that correlation doesn’t mean causation ….. they need lessons on critical thinking

yet they know the majority of kids with attendance issues are also sen kids
Not so much a parenting issue as a lack of suitable education settings and support

Yes parents must actually do something about their child's behaviour & attendance. It's not one or the other situation. Not all behaviour is down the ALN and those with ALN can still choose to be A-Holes! schools need to support ALN more just as much as parents need to actually take some responsibility for their child's behaviour
