The victim, Abdul Khaliq Ganai from Kralpora, Kupwara, was reportedly threatened at gunpoint by non-local thieves who took his shawls, phone, and ₹32,000 in cash.

"He was intimidated by a pistol, and his belongings were looted," a local told The Kashmiriyat. Upon learning about the incident, locals apprehended the thieves and handed them over to the police. However, since the stolen cash was not recovered, the community raised ₹60,000 and gave it to Ganai. Despite their efforts, the local police allegedly took no action in the case. Manjit Singh, a local Sikh, emphasized the strong bond between Kashmiris and Sikhs. "Kashmiris have always helped us in the Valley. Just as they stand by us, we will never stay behind when they need us. It is our duty to support each other," he said. The compassionate gesture by the Sikh community has been widely appreciated, highlighting the deep-rooted unity and mutual respect between the two communities.
