@anna..papalia: Replying to @Haui 👩🏼💻When you apply to a job online your job application goes into what is called an Applicant Tracking System, ATS for short. That system will either send your application to a real recruiter for review, or you will be sent an auto rejection email. 📊ATS systems are full of biases and are discriminatory, don’t believe me google it. The ATS system was NOT built to help you find a job or make it easy for you to gain access to a company. ⚠️The ATS system was designed to keep you OUT 👉Watch this video @Anna Papalia about how the corporate hiring process is flawed👈 If you have been applying for jobs online, you know this is true. You know that it takes a long time to fill out these applications and it very rarely results in you getting scheduled a job interview. That’s because HR departments, recruiters and hiring managers all prefer internal referrals. They prefer to hire people that they know. ✅80% of people get jobs through their network 👉Watch this video @Anna Papalia to learn how to avoid the ATS👈 Which means you need to apply to organizations where your friends and old co-workers work. ▪️Ask your neighbor if their company is hiring ▪️Ask your cousin if her best friend can send your resume to her boss at that cool company where she works ▪️Ask your dad if his best friend can introduce you to that person he works with Applying online rarely gets you anywhere. Networking and getting referred into a company works every time. #jobsearch #jobapplication #ats #unemployed #networking
is a referral still preferred if the referred person is slightly under qualified?

Does this lead to rotten nepotism where individuals are only hired based on their connections and not their skills or qualifications or abilities. I personally won't prefer to be hired by that unethical strategy

This just shows you don’t hire the most qualified, you hired friends…… this leads to toxic work places

with this job market people are holding on to their own jobs with their life and don't want to refer anyone in case that referral takes their job or underperforms and then they look bad. there's no such thing as job stability anymore, every position may be temp, especially with AI

Referrals are preferred because I know damn well I’d never attach my name to someone if I know they’d be bad for the job! It sets an automatic standard that random applicants don’t have.

I work at an animal hospital that’s owned by a corporation. I reached out to my People Operations Coordinator, that’s here in hospital, about a position for a People Coordinator I saw open on our corporations website. Was that a bad idea? I essentially said I was looking to switch careers. 😭

That’s right, referrals will make it 2x easier but you also have to be qualified to get and retain the role.

I was a hiring manager, and I use to hire referrals until I notice the trend. The trend being that all, and. I mean all referrals believe they’re untouchable because so and so got them in. Then the individual who referred wants no involvement when their referrals aren’t working out.

I literally helped a friend get a job by literally walking into the store with her and having her talk to the owner because she owned the little boutique and the restaurant on the same street.

What do you think about sending my resume several times, to the employer during their hiring period. For example if the position is open for a month I send 4 of the same resume and cover letter until the position closes. I don’t want to be skipped over

Great post! Referrals are not nepotism: infact it’s the opposite- any decent employee would not refer a candidates that isn’t qualified because it could damage the reputation. So getting or giving a referral actually signals your quality, not the opposite. Networks and referrals are the way forward 👍

I have used both referral and non referral methods to apply. I got farther based off of my skills and non-referral apps tbh. My resume is stacked and I got to where I am based off of merit.

If you refer someone and that someone you help will take over your position you will regret the moment you refer him. I experienced that I just go for vacation when I cameback boom my manager talk to me to look for new company bcos I wasnt needed anymore.
