People forget that Bojack is the most “human” (I know he’s a horse yes) character that could be related to the reality. He’s complex, he’s selfish, he did a lot of bad stuff and probable make the worse decisions in his life. But we forget that he grew up in a terrible family. He was hated by his own mother and father, he never had real love so he doesn’t know how to show love properly. He’s like this because he’s a result of a dysfunctional family. We never talk about kids that grew up like that. I think he felt that he can’t be loved because he’s a failure and probably cursed. I know that everyone is different he doesn’t even know how to ask help, he’s self destructive and destroy everything he touches. He’s only see the worst in him and think he will always be like that no matter how he tries. I found him interesting, he’s well written (like all the characters in the show). I don’t justify what he did (bc it’s horrible) but not everyone can easily change, some people found a weird “comfort” in their own situation it’s kinda strange tho, but I think I can understand in some ways why. He thinks it’s the only thing he deserves. :(

The beauty of bojack is he’s ability to talk. He couldn’t then but he could now. He did not handle he’s trauma, he found a way to put himself first because nobody else will at least willingly. It’s just good to know he found a place of temporary peace many of us don’t get that. He is not selfish, he is pained the two are so different. No matter how much we try to avoid it trauma has a way of making us who we are.
