THE MIRACLE OF AYAH AL-KURSI [2:255] You’ve probably read Āyat al-Kursī a million times… but have you ever noticed what sits right at its centre? يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ “He knows what is before them and what is behind them.” The very middle of the verse tells us that Allah ﷻ knows what lies ahead of us and what lies behind us. This isn’t a coincidence. Allah ﷻ is hinting that what comes before this sentence and after it… are connected. Because Āyat al-Kursī — like so much of the Qur’an — has a ring structure to it: the beginning mirrors the end, each part reflecting the same content, circling around a central theme. Let me show you. Āyat al-Kursī contains nine sentences, paired symmetrically. _____ Sentence 1 begins with Allah’s ﷻ majesty: اللَّهُ لَا إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ “There is no god except Him — the Ever-Living, the Sustainer.” Sentence 9 ends with His majesty: وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ “He is the Most High, the Supreme.” The verse begins and ends with His divine attributes — a perfect frame. ____ Sentence 2 states: لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ “Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him.” Sleep is a weakness which overtakes human rulers — but never Allah ﷻ. So Sentence 8 mirrors it: وَلَا يَئُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا “And their preservation does not tire Him.” No weakness inwardly, no fatigue outwardly. ____ Sentence 3: لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ “To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth.” Sentence 7 mirrors it: وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ “His Kursī extends over the heavens and the earth.” The first speaks of ownership. The second of authority — covering the two dimensions of power. ____ Sentence 4: مَن ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِنْدَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ “Who can intercede except by His permission?” Sentence 6 reflects it: وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلَّا بِمَا شَاءَ “They encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills.” Intercession requires knowledge; knowledge precedes intercession. Both belong fully to Allah ﷻ, both granted only to whom He wills. ____ And at the heart of the ayah… Sentence 5: يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ “He knows what is before them and what is behind them.” The axis the entire verse revolves around, and it states it clearly; He knows both “before” and “after” Everything revolves around His knowledge — past and future, seen and unseen. ____ So why does this structure matter? 1️⃣ It reveals the Qur’an’s divine origin. Such symmetry and depth are beyond human ability. 2️⃣ A ring always revolves around a centre. Allah ﷻ is showing us that our lives, too, must revolve around a purpose. 3️⃣ Meaning exists even when you don’t see it. Either you place Allah ﷻ at the centre… or something else takes that place without you realising. So choose your centre wisely. Because whatever lies at the heart of your life… shapes every “ring” around it. #AyatulKursi #AyatulKursiMiracle #QuranMiracles #QuranReflection #QuranTadabbur
