My mastiff was in the doggie ICU for 7 days and it cost $36,000!!! So… get a horse it will be cheaper. Got it.

Sounds about right when my horse had colitis he was an ICU quarantined for a week. Cost me around 10 grand.

my horse had colitis bc of a reaction to doxycycline 😬 the end bill was $15k😭 he was in the vet up and down for about 3weeks, one of which was in ICU bc we didn't know what happened

Emergency equine vet tech here. Unfortunately colitis always takes longer to treat 😓 and they get so painful and the pain meds and sedation can add up! I’m sorry you had to deal with this!!

It sounds expensives, but I always think of how many employees that are at the hospitals around the clock. It helped me justify spending $13k for my minis almost 2 week stay🙂 I’d rather have him then the $13,000

What protocol are they recommending diet wise to prevent more bouts of colitis? I’m so sorry he went through this and you had such a huge bill! 1000% worth the money to save him, but dang! A lot of money to pay without warning! 😟

Vets are so expensive. We do a jar for horse “insurance” instead of doing actual insurance for our horses. I take $100 out of every pay check and it goes towards emergency’s or even just regular vet check ups
