This is abolitionist theory as a politic. Of course it’s going to be a lot of questions: it’s attempting to make dreams closer to reality. Thank you. I needed this.

Thank you so much for the things you say and for saying questions instead of answers. You are right, it helps to dream and to bring the things we believe in more to reality. I wish you would do a podcast or sth ngl

This is why the recidivism outcome is so low.

My masters is in Rehab counseling I’m a licensed therapist. And they taught us that every person should have an individualized plan. But then we see that in some places this is not being practiced. And this is a huge reason people are not succeeding within these systems

Yep 💯 and not to mention the number of criminals our justice system has created. Going in for non violent crimes and coming out back into society as a stone cold kiIIer.

Thank you for taking time to respond! This definitely helps paint a picture for me since I’m trying to learn more about abolition since I do believe it works. The SA was just the one piece I was still working to understand (and ofc still am). You explained thing way easier for me to understand. Thank you for all the community and abolitionist work you do and I hope your day goes well 🧡

This just made me feel like it’s said to be rehabilitating but that’s not the actual goal for prisoners. They may be coming home but they want you back

It’s absolutely individualized, both depending on the harmed party’s needs, and based on culture & context. Our current system just does absolutely nothing for people who are harmed unless you have $ to sue, even then it’s traumatic and no guarantee to win. Bare minimum of what needs to change is to center the people who have been harmed.

If they had the same empathy during the crack era that they have now, many children would still be alive and many people wouldn’t have experienced what they have. As a nurse, the whispers are still the same, but the machine ignores it for the benefit of yt ppl. I have benefited from this new system as a black woman, but I know that I just happen to be a crumb that was swept up too. It wasn’t done with me in mind.

Truth! I was a kid for the war on drugs and the mandatory minimums and both my parents went at different times for crack. But, fast forward and when the opioids started causing lil yt girls and boys to OD then we got drug court and diversion. Not a minute before.
