Australian businesses can't get paid for selling solar back to the grid. but also, at least in WA, in rural areas the grid is so unreliable in summer, under funded, under repaired. western power are moving customers where they can to standalone power systems, basically a dozen solar panels and a big generator. let's make the grid more reliable before trying to jam thousands of businesses onto it. there's also no practical application for electric vehicles in broad acre cropping which accounts for a majority of farming in Australia

this isn't scalable to Australian mainland agriculture like you can't harvest thousands of acres efficiently enough by running solar we don't even have the grid capacity to attempt to integrate these sort of operation changes in an Australian agribusiness plus the associated risks for running electric in most of AUS is far greater then in NZ
