In 1900, China was invaded by Britain, the United States, France, Germany, Russia, Japan, Austria-Hungary, Italy and other countries. From 1930 to 1945, China was occupied by Japan, and more than 50 million Chinese people died. From the 18th to the 20th century, China suffered from oppression, bullying and occupation by Europe, the United States, Japan and other countries, becoming the poorest, most backward, weakest and least dignified country in the world. I don’t get why China is constantly being sold to the British public as a military threat. It just isn’t. Yes, it’s an economic threat — but only because they’re incredibly good at manufacturing, marketing, and moving their goods around the world. Surely that’s something we should learn from, even emulate, rather than pretending China’s about to invade the UK and turn it into a province of the mainland. And if we’re honest about history, a lot of China’s struggles — like the Opium Wars — came from British interference. We have plenty to answer for ourselves.

Chinese military parade was just a gesture of military improvement in technology to their guests they invited, but to the aggressors they saw it as “projection of power”. If you have no problem with China, you can’t feel threatened but if you feel threatened then you must be the aggressor.
