@redrumevo: Halfway through my deployment, people talk about “when I get home” I’m realizing there’s more uncertainty in coming home than there is serving in a conflict zone. It’s been a journey I thought I was ready for and I’m finding out I wasn’t, Especially about going home, I don’t know if I’m ready to go home. #deployment#army

You have purpose on deployment, without all of life’s other stressors. You’re not worried about mundane things. When you’re back you realize how pointless most of the things you/people do in life really are.

Been I for 11 yeas. If you just decide to stay in you’ll get numb to it. Just get a dog that’s what I did.

Just remember, everyone’s life moved on except yours. Gotta try to pick up the pieces and move on faster than you normally would.

Stay in, military’s cool. It’s all the same shit out here my guy. The grass is not always greener, but if you got a family and it’s taking a tol on them. You gotta leave man, you can’t take those time back spent away from them. Loved being in the military being single, then I left because I thought it was time only to realize damn lol the grass on this side it’s crab grass. It ain’t blue grass.

Welcome home man, It’s gonna be different and just know it’s not exactly how you left it. People learned to live without you there. Not meaning that in a bad way but when you start to interact with friends and family again understand that and actively seek that time with them. Yes they miss you and talk about you daily but remember how ever long you were gone on your work trip they had to evolve to that and don’t worry you’ll sink back to where you were with people it just takes time and patience. And while on trip you experienced stuff you may never get to experience again, take pictures of everything.

My husband left us when our twins were 2 months old and my toddler wasn’t 2 yet. He just got back and I haven’t let go of him. Our kids haven’t either. Sending hugs your way. Praying for a safe return.

What you're going through isn't even comparable to my experience. I attended a private paramilitary school for a week, and it was exhausting but wonderful. I bonded so much with my entire platoon, and I'll stay on the school team. But going back to the video, on the last day when my parents arrived, I was both happy and scared. In a week, I had gotten used to waking up early to the sound of trumpets, marching together, and the thought of having to go home scared me a lot. so maybe I can understand a thousandth of what you all went through but I found my second home (sorry I wrote with the translator)

I haven’t served. But I get it. My dad worked overseas after retiring. He said it felt purposeful, he made great friendship and he had a sense of adventure. Hard to go to normal life after that.
