so... 3000 years ago it happened. but you are observing it as if it were day 1?

What I don't understand is why you have to think about logical things and turn them into something disorienting. Go faster, you get to your destination faster, go slower, you get to your destination more slowly. For me, it's normal and logical.what is questionable ?

Puppy Magic :
Time stops (from the perspective of the light moving at the speed of light). The actual speed of light is fast, but light still takes time to travel vast distances across the universe. So if you were the light particle leaving that star, from its perspective, it never experiences time (time is still for it), so it leaves the star and hits the telescope instantly from its point of view, even though it travelled (from our perspective) for thousands of years because of the distance. We can't ever move at the speed of light, because its impossible for matter to do that, but light can, as it has no mass.

If light doesn’t age please explain the redshift. Because that the measurement they use to determine lights age

but we estimate / measure the speed of light. how does that coexist with what you are saying? i understand the concept of relativity, i understand that as things move faster and faster their perceived time slows down, BUT does it really reach zero or tends to reach zero? otherwise we're gonna have to go back to the drawing board and try to make sense again of anything that we observe... congratulations... no sleep for me tonight 😅

So since photons don’t experience time it left and arrived at the same time?

So if time doesn’t exist for the photons, It could be said they are created only when they are observed? Almost like a simulation or a computer program?

Neillien :
Is that true though? As a photon only moves as fast as the speed of light but it also has to counter the expansion of the universe which is moving faster than the speed of light., so it wouldn’t be in the instant it was created that it arrived, there would be lag due to expansion.🤔

Time stands still at the speed of light (which photons are moving). Therefore photons don’t experience the passage of time, everything happens instantaneously for them.

This is basically what he’s saying, say there is an intelligent alien species far away in some distant planet, but they have a very powerful telescope, powerful enough to see us as we’re walking around living our daily lives, but since we’re so far away the aliens are seeing the “old light” because it took so long for it to travel to them… so basically if they pointed it on you they might see you when you were a child or maybe you didn’t exist yet, even tho technically they are looking at earth the same time as when your an adult, they won’t see that.

László Előd :
If the photon has no time, then from his point of view I am going at the speed of light, so I have no time. But that is not what we are experiencing! Could it be that we can't relate a system of inertia to a particle travelling only at the speed of light?

Dalton James :
If time doesn’t exist if then neither does distance. If time and distance don’t exist it’s not part of a three dimensional reality. A photon is a manifestation in our three dimensional world of a four dimensional property/activity/event.
