Prof, it is no longer relevant. 10 years ago there was no grab and ev cars. these cars are flooding CAT. Do ur analysis before refer to the curve.

It’s time the government faces the truth about COE. When PHVs first appeared, allowing them in Cat A and B made sense — the numbers were small. But today? Thousands of rental and fleet companies are bidding every round, driving prices beyond what ordinary families can afford. This is no longer about private car ownership — it’s about commercial fleets overpowering citizens. And yet, the policy hasn’t changed. No separate COE pool, no commercial surcharge, no ownership cap.

About 5 to 7 years ago, a lambo urus cost 888,888 with coe. Today it's 1.6m without coe. Coe alone isn't the only problem.

lol this guy is so so wrong, trying to use historical trends to extrapolate future projections when the underlying drivers are different. last decade got coys like grab artificially driving prices up? got influx of rich FTs ? got gov intervention on supply side? got ERP 2.0? what a joke.

Prof you’ve to acknowledge these tactics that they’re doing nowadays, stealing supply from end decade to make up for the absurd rise in COE. If it keeps going like this, it’ll stay stagnant at $100k. The data isn’t relevant anymore.

The COE system generates a huge amount of revenue for the government, which is why there’s little incentive for them to listen to middle-class Singaporeans calling for changes. Separating COEs into different categories would likely reduce government revenue, making it even less likely that such a move will be considered. Unless a miracle happens, this kind of change is more of a dream than a realistic expectation.

He has flip flop a few times... but I guess... at least he flip and flop when new facts were made public. The other guy, who was also frequently invited to do interview with regards to National Policies on Mainstream Media, not so much. When new facts were known to public, that guy simply disappears.

Some questions for prof to answer. 1. What’s the correlation between inflation and high coe? 2. Is it fair for ordinary folks to compete for COEs with PHV & rental co. where they are financially strong? 3. Dealers/agents will bid aggressively to meet orders and principal’s sales targets, therefore pushing the coe high. 4. Pls add on the any other Qns

The rise and rise of cat A prices is clearly the need to increase GrabTaxi quantity to scale. The licence issued a few months ago with a couple hundreds unit launched only. You need ballpark 10k units to scale taxi service. Reckon 1 year of elevated coe. Sorrry prof, the cycle is now an outlayer in history

Nope.. Because dealers now offer 0 downpayment for new cars and most Singaporeans are addicted to financial mistakes.. 🤣 the more expensive the coe the more money financial institutions earn from instrests. The people of power are in bed with the financial institutions. Money makes the world go around.
