INFO ⬇️ Vacations used to terrify me earlier in my fitness journey. I was always 0, or 100 when it came my training, diet, and indulging. It doesn’t have to be one extreme or the other. Here are my favorite tips on balancing a vacation with your fitness goals. 1- Plan Ahead: If you’re on a structured program, plan what days you will lift and what days you will be hitting the gym. 2- Pack Smart: Bring workout clothes, any supplements and vitamins you usually take, and especially some electrolytes if you’ll be drinking or in the sun. Not having essential items will make it that much easier to make excuses. 3- Set Realistic Expectations: Don’t try to adhere to your normal rigorous routine while on vacation. It’s not needed, after all, you’re there to relax and get a break from your usual routine. Balance is key. 4- 80/20 Rule: Try to consume quality food, protein and clean carbohydrates, for 80% of your meals. Use the other 20% to try new foods, local cuisine, and indulge in desserts/treats. 5- Move Each Day: Even if you’re not lifting, try to start each day with some movement. A walk, exploring a new place, etc. You would be surprised just how much a little movement each day helps. 6- Booze: We know most people want to drink more than usual on vacation. Which is ok. Take some steps to ensure you’re minimizing the negative effects as much as possible. Drink LOTS of water, use electrolytes in the morning and before bed, minimize sugary mixers and beer. 7- Sleep: This is overlooked by many. Not only will you feel better with adequate rest, you’re going to make better choices with food. Lack of sleep increases ghrelin (hunger hormone) which in turn makes you incredibly hungry when tired. 8- Mindfulness: Set specific times for meditation/mindfulness. Remember why you’re there, allow yourself to be in the present moment, take time to relax and be with your own thoughts. 9- HAVE SOME F@CKING FUN: Vacation shouldn’t be stressful. It’s been stressful many times in my life trying to balance my physique, goals, guilt, over indulgence, etc. Your time is limited, life is short, enjoy your trip and loved ones. Let me know if y’all have any questions. 🫶 #Fitness #fitnesstips #vacation #diet #diethacks #fatloss #abs #fitnessjourney #fitnesstransformation #lean #shredded #fyp #foryou #foryoupage
