Do you have any suggestions for alternatives to oats? Just recently, I’ve developed an intolerance to oatmeal and oat milk.

I started buying frozen fruit (because I never eat all the fresh fruit that grocery store me thought would be great) and cooking the fruit in a little saucepan with a splash of lemon juice and making a little “jam.” I put it in my oatmeal with chia seeds and chopped candied pecans and it’s delightful.

I make almost exactly the same thing except I also add flax. I prefer mix all the dry ingredients (you can do it right in the oatmeal container) so all I have to do in the morning is scoop and add water

I like hot oatmeal too and not cold overnight oats. Sometimes I heat up overnight oats and it’s good too.

Do you have a good sub for chia seeds? I loathe them but love the nutritional punch they pack.

I discovered apple fiber powder. 5g of fiber per tablespoon. I add it to my chia oatmeal. Nearly half my daily fiber in my breakfast.

Love the figs idea! I grew up adding raisins to my oatmeal, and still love that, but sometimes I'll do diced dried apricot pieces and slivered almonds instead. Fresh fruit is hard for me to eat fast enough to make sense having it around a lot, but dried fruit is so great -- versatile and shelf-stable ❤

The dried strawberries from tj’s add a ton of flavor too and are packed with fiber

I know it’s unusual, but sometimes I like a baked sweet potato with salt and butter for breakfast. I want to keep it on the savory side… what would you add?

Love your practical content! Overnight oats are not for me either. For some reason, I get horrible stomach pain if I eat uncooked oats. It’s like my digestive system has a hard time breaking it down. Cooked oats are no problem.

I used to avoid oatmeal because I'm not a sweet breakfast girl and then someone suggested it doesn't have to be sweet. My current favorite 1/2 c oats, 1T chia seeds, 6 asparagus spears chopped 1 c chicken broth, 1t chili crisp microwave for 2 minutes

I also love adding frozen berries right to the hot oatmeal with some milk and brown sugar, the berries thaw pretty quick and it’s a fun texture/temperature situation

I tackle my fiber from the start of the day too. I have a little chia pudding and plain yogurt with fresh fruit as one of my “snacks” which allows me to take my vitamins on a not empty stomach!
