I work retail and it's already depressing to work constantly and barely afford life, but then people are rude to us for no reason. Daily. That's a huge part as to why so many of us look miserable. No matter how hard we try, we get treated poorly 😮💨

When I was a teenager, I worked at a local sandwich shop. I waited on a wretched old man who berated me. I was fighting back tears & thr next customer called me by name (nametag) told me to look at her & said he was just a miserable old man & I was doing great & to not let it ruin my day. 20+ yrs later I still think about that stranger every once in awhile

I used to work in a county office dealing with the public everyday. There was a very busy Friday, I'd been yelled at, sworn at, had things thrown at me...our vending machine guy ended up at my window. He had to step out of line for a minute, but when he came back, he gave me 2 bags of Skittles. When I tell you I almost cried... This was probably 10 years ago now and I still think of it.

I worked in a retail pharmacy and I was new and nervous. An old racist man came in and mumbled his request to me and I needed him to repeat it twice. But not after screaming racist profanities at me. The other young man waiting told him off and told him to speak up. He was my hero that day and still is.

as a cashier I appreciate your kindness also we are not allowed to receive any gifts or anything from customers but seriously just saying I'm sorry that guy was being a jerk or whatever makes a whole lot of difference thank you to all the good customers out there

Thank you for doing that, my husband and I make a point to do that too when service workers are not treated well. We've both been on that side plenty and want to do what we can to counteract the negativity. Noone deserves to be treated like that.

Your Good personage was never in question. You respect your wife.. children.. fellow workers.. animals.
