🍁 Praline Spice Cake with Brown Butter Cream Cheese Frosting 🍰 Go ahead and save this to make for Thanksgiving (or tomorrow 😉). It’s truly the perfect cake, moist, beautiful, and layered with a cozy pecan praline filling that adds the most warming crunch. Topped with silky brown butter cream cheese frosting, it’s a fall showstopper that tastes even better the next day. Recipe below👇🏻 Ingredients For the Spice Cake •	3 cups cake flour •	1 tbsp ground cinnamon •	1 tsp ground ginger •	½ tsp ground nutmeg •	½ tsp ground allspice •	¼ tsp ground cloves •	1 tbsp baking powder •	1 tsp baking soda •	1 tsp kosher salt •	1 ½ cups granulated sugar •	1 cup light brown sugar •	1 cup neutral oil (I use avocado) •	4 large eggs, room temperature •	1 ½ cups buttermilk, room temperature •	2 tsp vanilla extract •	½ cup unsweetened applesauce For the Pecan Praline Filling •	1 cup light brown sugar •	½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter •	½ cup heavy cream •	½ tsp kosher salt •	1 cup toasted pecans, chopped For the Brown Butter Cream Cheese Frosting •	1 cup (2 sticks) salted European-style butter (I like @KerrygoldUSA ), browned & cooled until spreadable •	16 oz (2 blocks) cream cheese, softened •	6 cups powdered sugar, sifted •	2 tsp vanilla extract Instructions 1. Make the Spice Cake 1.	Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and line three 8-inch cake pans. 2.	In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, spices, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. 3.	In a stand mixer, beat granulated sugar, brown sugar, oil, and eggs until lightened and fluffy (2–3 minutes). 4.	Mix in buttermilk, vanilla, and applesauce. 5.	Add dry ingredients in two additions, mixing gently until just combined. 6.	Divide batter evenly between pans. 7.	Bake 25–30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs. 8.	Cool 10 minutes in pans, then turn out onto racks to cool completely. 2. Make the Praline Filling 1.	In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt brown sugar and butter together. 2.	Whisk in heavy cream and salt; bring to a gentle boil for 2 minutes, stirring often. 3.	Remove from heat, stir in pecans, and let cool until thickened but spreadable (like soft caramel). 3. Make the Frosting 1.	Brown the butter: In a light-colored pan, cook butter over medium heat until golden with nutty bits. Pour into a shallow dish and cool until it’s the texture of softened butter. 2.	In a stand mixer, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add browned butter and whip until fluffy. 3.	Beat in vanilla. 4.	Gradually mix in powdered sugar until smooth and spreadable. 4. Assemble 1.	If needed, trim the tops of your cake layers with a serrated knife to make them flat and even. Place a small scoop of frosting in the center of your cake plate or board to keep the first layer from sliding. 2.	Set down one cake layer. Spread a thin layer of frosting on top, then pipe a frosting “barrier” around the edge. Spoon about 9 tablespoons of praline filling inside the barrier and spread evenly. 3.	Add the second cake layer. Repeat the frosting barrier + 9 tablespoons praline filling. 4.	Place the third cake layer on top, bottom side up for the flattest surface. 5.	Apply a thin crumb coat of frosting over the entire cake to lock in crumbs. Chill in the freezer for 15–20 minutes until set. 6.	Finish with a final coat of the brown butter cream cheese frosting, smoothing as desired. 7.	Top with the remaining praline filling. Enjoy🫶🏼 #PralineSpiceCake #BrownButterCreamCheeseFrosting #ThanksgivingCake #FallLayerCake #PecanPralineDessert
