I totally agree with you that six weeks of space should be respected as long as the mother of wife has the same boundaries. I find it baffling that the husband’s family always has stricter boundaries than the wife’s family. It makes no sense.

If my daughter in law does not want to see me for 6 weeks, I will offer to cover the cost of a doula once or twice a week during night so they can have at least 1-2 nights a week where they get a full rest. I will offer to pay for maid service so she won’t have to worry about cleaning the house. I will offer meal service so she can order what she wants and doesn’t feel obligated to eat what I chose to cook & wont even have to open the door to me during drop off. I will do all that bc that is how experienced mamas support new mamas…

the thing is this mindset is what lets you see the grandchild before the other side of the family who forces themselves in lol. Like basic respect is what gets you on peoples good sides lol
