I will NEVER forget when my son was 3 and we were making Christmas cookies and dumped A TON of sprinkles on the floor I got upset and said "why did you do that?" And he looked at me with huge said eyes and said "Mama, Im still learning" Talk about a reality check! I've always went with that mentality since. He's almost a teenager now 😭😭

Accidentally dumped wood stain on my parents nice deck. Not an exasperated sigh, a raised voice, just a laugh, a head shake, and “You’re in the right family, cause it’s just a deck.” Love my sweet dad!!

I grew up in a household of clumsy. The type where even when cleaning we’d manage to drop something, spill, lord knows. Eventually it just became a running inside joke of “days since last cleaning accident”. Instead of being fussed at, just laugh, clean it up, reset the count, and see how long we go this time.

I spilled a brand new $100 gallon of specialty paint in my dad’s workshop a couple years ago and punished myself for days for the waste and the mess. My sweet daddy’s response was “accidents happen kiddo”. That kind of grace continues to teach me life lessons and that sometimes accidents happen and we don’t need to beat out selves up for them. As a “kid” in a similar situation, thank you for giving them the grace ❤️

Because of his childhood, my dad instinctually gets mad whenever something spills, even if it’s just a cup of water. As we grew up, he realized how ridiculous that was (with help from my mom gently teasing him about it) and he got better. He still has a flash of tension when something spills, but he doesn’t yell or get mad anymore. I so deeply respect him, you, and all the parents out there who are undoing their childhood traumas and making their kids’ lives better

one time I toasted a marshmallow on the stove and it caught on fire and dropped onto the carpet and turned a hole into the carpet. my parents just stared at me like I had 2 heads instead of punishing me ❤️❤️❤️I think my stupidity confused them enough that they couldn't react

I’ll say I had a rough raising with my dad, but when I was young I accidentally broke a windshield and I thought he was going to lose it on me, I hid in the bathroom crying. He showed up and didn’t say anything except I’m not mad bc I did it as a kid. Very ceazy

My biggest goal when it comes to becoming a mother is to be the mom that laughs in the face of chaos. Cuz honestly kid…. Me too. Just cuz I was met with anger instead of grace when I did the SAME STUFF doesn’t mean my kids have to…. and I think that’s beautiful.

I'll never forget the fact that we kept it a secret that my younger siblings broke the door on the China cabinet (I came out of the bathroom to my slightly younger brother and much younger sister running around like maniacs freaking out Abt it) I went into big sister mode grabbed the screwdriver put it back together and it was a secret until I recently joked abt how freaked out they were about breaking the door only to discover my mother was wondering why the door seemed to be working better bc it was already broken and she knew and wasn't gonna be mad 😅😂

i remember about 3 days after i got my license when i was 16 i was driving my mom’s car at night and forgot how to turn the headlights on (should’ve done it before i left the drive way lol). in my struggle to get them on, i went off the road into a muddy ditch and scraped a pole really bad leaving a really nasty and incredibly obvious scrape along the length of the car. got back home in HYSTERICS just for my parents to come downstairs, look at it, and say “it’ll buff out” and never mention it again. idk why but that interaction healed my fear to admit mistakes to my parents even now as an adult 💞
