Had a Muslim friend (Obadah) come to my Christian home. I welcomed him and his wife. Our home was being renovated and it’s also a farm. I’m a busy woman: I own a company, I’m a second year PhD student, have a couple of rental properties in Ireland and Ontario…and I have 10 rescue donkeys. He doesn’t own but rents his home, it’s overpriced and mould-ridden. They came to stay for an overnight weekend for dinner. My back porch had building materials, garden stuff, etc. All he could say to me was ‘have some respect and clean your home…look at this mess, clean it up…why would you leave it like that?’ I just thought to myself that, (in my opinion), you have come to my home, to stay overnight and this is your comment? I didn’t think he was a good man let alone a good Muslim after that! No, they never came back to my home after that…which is now a true construction site as it’s massive renovations being undertaken.

Islam taught us not to let the eyes wander when you visit someone's home inspecting the quality of furniture, the decor, etc.

I like my house clean and organized. That’s my house, but when I visit someone’s home I don’t care about their homes. It’s their personal space, it’s up to them how they manage it. I respect their space. I come to see the people not their belongings ❤️
