My advice is to exaggerate. Women tend to downplay their pain, so when they're asked how much it hurts, they give a low number. Medical staff already tend to gaslight women who complain about pain. So if you're in pain and go to seek medical help; exaggerate. If you think the pain is a 6, say it's an 8

We ask this knowing its subjective to each person. Ideally its asked again later to see if whatever pain interventions we tried worked - we just need a baseline.

It’s based off of how well you can go through your day. 1-2 is minor, doesnt stop any of your daily life. 3-4 still fairly fine, you can do most of your daily activities. 5-6 is moderate pain, it hurts to do around half of your routine. 7-8, you can’t participate in most of your day-to-day. 9-10 is when you are completely unable to perform your regular duties.

yeah. its the struggle. im glad Seattle's children's hospital gave me more descriptive "accurate" pain scales to go off of. they're downloaded on my phone and i pull em out every time I go to the doctor and have to explain their vague face pain scale is, terrible. ah yes doctor today im feeling :/. either way scales are super, perception based so, its tough all around. find scales that people like you have made, or one that comes from special research somone did for people like you. anything that seems like a more accurate scale of 1-10 for YOU. i like this one personally, although, at a 10, it says to go to the hospital... dont get me into it truly, but, in this economy? nuh uh

I am always to scared to say anything over a 5 cause like yeah it hurts really bad but like im sure someone has felt something way worse/it could probably be a lot worse soo idk

this is me with my shoulder, had surgery in Jan to prevent it from dislocating… and it’s dislocated 5-6 times since yesterday 🧍🏽‍♀
