My babies did the same thing and my pediatrician told me it wouldn't hurt them...it's high in protein. It's gross but at least it won't kill him😉

I mean, more than once I’ve let my kid eat like the cat eats (upon request, of course) and that’s why I’m awesome. I also have a piggy bank that I wrote “therapy” on where I toss change in whenever I’m not awesome. It’s called balance.

My youngest daughter did this. My ex was in the military so it was just me with two kids and one with special needs. She'd always find her way to the dog food bowl (don't come for me about baby gates military housing at that place there were only two places you could put a gate and none of it was where you could put dog bowls) she'd crawl over get a hand food of dog food soak it in dog water and eat it. It got so much we what an extra kitchen table she couldn't move and shut the area in. So when we were ready to eat as a family we'd have to flip the table up again. Thdn she learned to scale from the couch. She stopped the day I put vinegar in the "water" bowl. Don't advise doing this method. The dogs were sad they couldn't snack with her anymore.

I put cereal in a (new never used by a dog) dog bowl so my kid could eat with our pup. Not a great long term strategy but created fun (and peace) for a week or so.

I just gave up that battle & let my daughter eat it, lol. It was dry kibble, she lived & quit on her own. lol

one of best friends had to put the dog food in a literal safe be her child outsmarted all the child proof locks and locking bins in his drive to eat the dogs rx food "I wouldn't have a problem if that dog food wasn't so expensive, dog food is balanced nutrition" that kid is in 1st grade now

My Mother went thru that with one of my brothers, catching him every chance he’d get, eating the dog kibble! He grew to be 6’5”! We all decided it must have been the dog food.

Social worker here, let him know the parents that allow dog food, normally don’t know the birthdays either 😅 so at least you’re 50% better than some 😂

I could NOT keep my daughter out out of the dog food or the cat litter! Finally, I broke down, got one of those large low side Tupperware totes and filled it with a ton of dried beans/dried peas and filled it with a bunch of toys and scoopers and spoons and things, and she could sit in it and have sensory play to her heart‘s content. Totally stopped the problem. No beans ended up in her mouth or her ears, etc. but I figured that even if that had happened, it was a relative risk to her eating gross dog food or cat poop.

I was just sharing an old memory with my now 16-year-old son that when he was two years old, he said to me, “mama I have willy good news. My teef are vewy vewy strong. They can eat dog food.”

Oddly enough my FB memory today was a post about emptying my sons snack bowl when he was one and it was half cheerios/half dog food. Cannon event apparently.

Rude! Just let him try one piece…I mean have you tried it??? Maybe it tastes good, ever think of that, Eli?? Also, my husband put baby puffs in a bowl that looks similar to our dogs and let him eat them while doggo ate his dinner…turned in to kiddo grabbing the bowl and taking it to his servant (my husband) and now gets puffs at dog dinner times😂
