Rural America does not equal farmers. Farmers tend to be ridiculously wealthy while the rest of the people around them live in poverty. The republicans abandoned rural areas (and still control them) but no one ever abandoned the farmers who have been kept afloat on government programs for decades.

I don’t disagree but as a Black American living in rural America, the bigotry has a lot of them in a chokehold to where they would never vote for anything the seems remotely progressive (granted, not all, but enough).

This is a choice that rural America makes. This is what they want. They just dont realize that the world they want to live in doesn’t exist anymore and they refuse to adapt to the one that does. The sooner they get wiped out by their own choices, the sooner someone can come in and pick up the pieces and do something productive with their assets.

A lot of them are just essentially brainwashed by their local churches, that to vote for a Democrat would just literally be evil, some former Christians/MAGA have said this on this app. So even if we said all the right things and had all the right policy, that brainwashing wouldn’t go away.
