@doescellothingz: At the last Scottish session I went to I heard the musical form described as like jazz, but the tune is the fixed constant and the rhythm section is improvised. Nothing has challenged me more as a Folk/classical crossover musician than making decisions around how to accompany tunes, so the description validates my experiences immensely.
