"You work on these hours now because I said so." you are in fact earning less money, and will need to do a new form over time just to receive the payment you were already getting which means officially on the docket you're working overtime and haven't gone up in pay, but you'll be taxed just the same as real overtime, meaning this new system means you earn less no matter what you do unless you get a raise.

they tried that in Germany. they settle for 35 hours for example at Volkswagen. they're going back to 40 now if I'm right

this is how much everyone should work. it creates more jobs and is great for mental and physical health but you also need to make sure they are paid a living wage too

Genuinely, this is the only acceptable work hours, our standard is wayyyyyyyy way too much. That seems like a realistic good healthy amount of work hours.

Sounds more realistic... 8h (9h incl. lunch) is ridiculous, after 6h we're drained and effort isn't the same... just waste of time. Shorter days (6h incl. 30min lunch) is perfect, more human, effective and productive 💯

i wouldn't be surprised if productivity of office workers would either stay the same or even go up on a 24 hour work week. very few people can actually focus on a task for 8 hours straight. and even if they do, at most office jobs there's just not that much stuff to do in a day. i bet going home early to rest and recharge instead of sitting in the office for two more hours pretending to be busy makes you more efficient long-term

Also, an average person cannot manage the expenses even with 5 day work week and overtime in Finland at the moment. This is utopistic.
