What I also found interesting: Shadow Milk himself speaks about the other bists in the storyline quite... Well? Let's think. Shadow Milk is selfish, egocentric, and narcissistic. He considers himself better than everyone else, viewing them all as his puppets. But when he presents the bists in his play, he calls them "radiant and glorious." That is, ALL OF THEM, NOT JUST HIMSELF. He could have said, "I'm the only good one, and these guys were just backup singers," or not mentioned them at all, but he placed himself and them on the same level. He, Shadow Milk, the narcissistic and selfish one. No, really, when I re-read the storyline, I was really surprised by his words about the other bists. He could have said anything. But he said exactly what he said. This just gets me even more (maybe I'm wrong, and I misunderstood something, but this is what I prefer to think, thank you).
