I made a video about this book a super long time ago. The mouse actually cleans the entire house AND makes an incredible portrait which he GAVE TO THE KID! And the narration has the gall to complain that now the kid has to get tape to put it on the fridge? Who even tapes things to fridges? Where I’m from we use magnets. Anyway, this kid received a full house cleaning and an artistic masterpiece in exchange for a potentially 2 cookies, 2 glasses of milk, and up to two napkins I guess. What a bargain!

Alternative read- charity needs to support the whole person. It can’t be “give a homeless person a shelter” it has to be a SAFE & dependable home that keeps a family and pets included together with health support, transportation to work, childcare, etc.

I was just discussing how this was the most impactful book on my life. My interpretation was different though. I think of it as when presented with a choice you should know that there will be a ripple effect so make decisions thoughtfully. Know that what you do will impact something down the line. This was important as my instinct is to think only in the moment instead of what could occur due to my actions.
