I am 118 qualified payments for my public service forgiveness program. I’ve just been informed that I’m being moved from the same plan to the standard plan. Will my payments from the standard plan qualify so that I can get my 120 and then therefore get my forgiveness.

I would assume they would also have to inform borrowers of a deadline to make a choice before they would move borrowers who “failed to make a choice.”

What freaks me out about that is I’m currently on save forbearance (financially I have to do this for now). I’d much rather just get back on the standard extended plan when this is all said and done. It would be a disaster if they put me on RAP. Will we have time after they give guidance for the people that are in save forbearance to pick a new plan?

The problem with switching to IDR forces me into 25 years rather than 20 before forgiveness. I paid off my graduate loans, my remaining loans are undergrad and before forbearance I had 236 payments, now 212 because the last 12 months payments didn’t count due to forbearance 😵💫
