Another reason I choose this side. We have the empathy and bravery they are incapable of having. What was their reaction when those MN state lawmakers were killed in front of their kids? They showed less empathy collectively than you just did in this one video. Thank you.

He stood for nothing but hate and racism, white supremacy and gun violence which was ultimately what took his life away. Someone like this should not be celebrated, but I still have empathy for his family, and would never wish this on anyone, whether I find their beliefs disgusting or not.

My take is this. It’s possible to hold two truths simultaneously. A man was assassinated today in a manner that no one deserves, and yet this reality does not grant license to dismiss or overlook the corrosive rhetoric he has long advanced. Compassion for a life lost and accountability for a legacy of vitriol. You can empathize with the tragedy and still be enraged by what he stood for. Violence begets violence. And the continuation of political violence in this country is not something to be proud of, and I can’t bring myself to celebrate his death no matter how much I disagreed with him.
