I would never let the calliper dangle on the rubber hose,I'd also clean the calliper ang apply grease to aid the new pads bedding in.

This is called a hack job. Rotors should be turned or replaced every time. Parts should be cleaned up and greased. And never let the caliper hang by the brake line.
