It's almost as if they are all running the exact same distance...how very odd 🤔

the amount of comments saying that the inside runners have a shorter distance to cover is concerning either because they think that nobody I'm the history of ever would have fixed that issue, or they have obviously never watched a race and are still arguing about it.

inside lane is a shorter distance, and you arent exactly going fast enough to need to slow down for the turns, so inner most lane is the fastest. same reason why the outer most lane is the slowest. Just simple maths

So you’re telling me that they knew they put the runners that did better in the qualifiers in the middle lanes and couldn’t figure out why most of the winners were in the middle lanes? Oh boy 🤦🏼

wouldnt the inside be the shortest distance?

Antony Madamombe :
middle lane is better because the level of curvy is less sharp and it doesn't affect the speed
good example is accelerating on a sharp curve
instead of focusing on increasing speed you will also be dealing with balancing your center of mass

Ive ran way too many races in the 1st lane, and being in that lane definitely negatively affects you

any long-term sprinter could tell you this. The only effect is psychological. from a physics perspective, the outside Lane should be fastest because your turn is the most gradual. that doesn't make any tangible difference IRL though

The inner one is harder ,the distance of rotation is longer for them much as their total distance is equal with the rest

I always thought the outside was fastest since the turns are more gentle. I guess that's not remotely true.

The truth is in the corners.. running fast while turning a corner basically slows u down a and at the extremes trying to keep an eye on your opponent means u focus ur eye on one spot, this also don’t help coordination.. in the middle u use both eyes to view both sides and and also u start the running in a straight line for long

it's more than just that it's who are you beside as well if your a slow starter fact finisher you would like to be on the outer lane beside a very fast starter
