Prefer a heated pool if traveling in the not super hot season, otherwise the pools get a bit heated by the sun, at least enough to not be shockingly chilly. Went to Excellence Oyster Bay in December a few years back and it was only like low 80s and the pool water was so cold. we stayed in the ocean and our little plunge instead of the cold main pools

Ok, so I have a couple of examples for this. My anniversary is in January, and we've been to Mexico in January. Each time we went, the pool water was cold 🥶. This past January we went to Secrets Playa Blanca and the main pool was heated and that's where we stayed. It was very windy and all of the other pools were very cold. On the other hand, we were at Majestic Elegance in DR in July and the water was hot! It felt like a bath tub, which to me is gross. So, I understand that. If we go to Mexico again in January, I would go to Secrets just for the heated pool.
