@crispy11b: When I was 18, I left home and went overseas to fight. At that age, I thought I understood what it meant to serve, but looking back, what I really knew for certain was that I wasn’t fighting for Republicans or Democrats, I was fighting for the American people. All of them. And I gave up my body for that belief. Over the years I’ve disagreed with people, sometimes fiercely. I’ve said things I probably shouldn’t have. But through it all, I’ve never wished for another American to be gone. Because when someone is taken from this world, it doesn’t just end a life, it shatters a family, leaves kids without a parent, parents without a child, communities missing someone who mattered. That’s a pain I would never want to place on anyone’s shoulders. What happened to Charlie Kirk wasn’t just about politics. It wasn’t just about him. He was killed because of his faith and beliefs. That is fascism in its purest form. And it’s not an attack on one man or one side of the aisle, it’s an attack on all of us as Americans. If we can’t pause long enough to see the humanity in people we disagree with, if we ever find ourselves cheering for death simply because we didn’t like someone’s views, then we’ve lost something sacred. We can be angry. We can debate. We can fight with words and ideas. But celebrating the loss of an American life? That’s a line we should never cross.
