The U.S./Mexico border is a continuation of the ethnic cleansing of Native Americans. It’s hard to imagine a world without borders in a modern context, and at a surface level, it’s easy to understand the desire to follow “rule of law.” But when we break down the not-so-distant history of our country, we see that if we were truly following rule of law, indigenous people would own the majority of land in the U.S. Instead, I hope this pespective shift can be valuable for people like me who didn’t realize: - Europeans illegally settled in the U.S. - Then they annexed much of Mexico - After stealing Mexico, they made the Mexicans leave Who is the real invader here? #mexico #bordersecurity #indigenous #History #nativeamerican P.S. Wanted to mention I think some people prefer the term Indigenous now, but I thought the term Native American better articulated my message here. I’m doing my best to learn more about the history of where we live but if any indigenous people wanna correct or add to anything I said here pls do!
