I have wanted to be a teachers aid and work my way up to being a teacher all of my life. When I was 17, I was a volunteer teacher’s aid for 5th grade students with LD (now known as IEP.) I loved those students with every ounce of my heart. I felt like one person had destroyed my dream and myself. I won’t ever say I wish it never happened, because I have the most stunning children who breathe life into my soul. This year we were all baptized into the Catholic Church. I have felt the peaceful joys of the Holy Spirit inside of me ever since. We were also gifted the best Godfather and Godparents you could ever ask to have. A month later a lot began to fall apart. When bad happened, I thanked God. I had to walk away from my job; a terrifying move as a single mother. I didn’t once have an ounce of fear. I thanked God. I prayed to God. I asked for guidance. I asked for purpose. I asked for destiny. The messengers were sent. I had to take tests that many said were very hard. I was told it required 3-6 months time to study. I was told statistically I shouldn’t expect to pass every test the first time. I threw the advice to the wayside. In 7 days I passed every test, had an interview and was given my position on the spot. I am now walking into my dream in the morning. Some may scratch their heads. 3 things I love? Children, education and psychology. I love to independently study the way neurotransmitters work and how the body responds to these signals. I am certified in meditation and through through this have learned the art of working with children and adults with anger and sensory disorders. Everything I’ve been passionate about has lead me to work with these precious young people. I am blessed beyond measure!!! Through this entire experience I have held tight to prayer, God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, Mother Mary, the Angels and the Saints. Baptism has changed everything about me and I am eternally blessed! Never give up on yourself! You can do it at 38, or you can sit at 58 still thinking “i wish i could have..” just get up and do it.
