@momdaystudio: Have you heard of curb walking for labor prep? Positions that create opposing movements in your hips and pelvis help open the mid pelvis, where labor often stalls. This part of the pelvis is less movable since baby is surrounded by the bony, less moveable portion of the pelvis. By using opposing motions—hip flexion/extension, up/down shifts, and pelvic rotations—you can create a shimmying effect to help baby navigate the pelvic cavity more smoothly. ☑️ All Fours with Yoga Block • Place a yoga block under one knee to shift that side of the pelvis up while keeping the other side down. • Keep your weight evenly distributed and move through arching and tucking your pelvis to open the front and back of the mid pelvis. • Purpose: Promotes flexibility and mobility for baby’s descent. ☑️ Offset Hip Oppeners • In the same position, press through the yoga-block knee to lift the opposite pelvis toward the ceiling. Rotate the pelvis forward and backward, creating opposing movements. • Purpose: Encourages better movement through the mid pelvis by unlocking rotational mobility. • Kneel with one leg forward, foot slightly wider than your hip, and knee rotated outward. Use your hands or a birth ball for support as you rock your pelvis forward and backward. • Purpose: Works opposing hip flexion and extension to widen the pelvis. ☑️ Curb Stepping or Yoga Block Step-Ups • Step up to the side on a yoga block or curb, exaggerating a pelvic hike on the stepping side. As you step, lift the non-stepping side past the opposite side.
