3 ways to help you see a good stride ✨ 1. Counting on approach This is my favourite trick- it helps you keep an even rhythm/stride coming into the fence, helping you not to panic and take a pull or a kick. It gives you an ability to assess how you’re covering ground and visualise the stride you will end up on when you reach the jump. 2. Forward canter before approach! Forward canter makes the jumps feel like they come to you rather than you having to get to them. When you’re jumping your canter needs to have impulsion, as it allows you to be able to steady or push for a stride and still have power at take off. It’s much harder to create power 3 strides from a jump if you come in too collected than it is to steady a forward canter. My top trick is to actively ask yourself to rate your own canter on the long side before you approach a jump, if it’s less than a 7 don’t go to the jump yet! 3. Understanding the course Knowing how many strides you have between jumps in a relative distance means as soon as you land you can count your strides be confident as to how many strides you have until take off. But remember, no one gets it perfect every time! #showjumper #showjumping #showjumpinghorses #horse #horses #horsejumping #jumpinghorse #horsehow #horserider #horsestagram #horsesofinstagram #horselove #horsetraining #horsereels #whodiditbest #horsegirl #horseygirl #horseylife #ridinginstructor #ridingcoach #ridinghorse #ilovemyhorse #horseoftheday #instahorse #horseyvideo #horsevideo #horseedit
