When McQueen got locked up in the junk yard for ruining the road, he was locked up in the carcasses/ dead bodies of his own species. 🤯

a year ago I took RT66 from Chicago to Sanata Monica on my Triumph Trophy , I drove the entire length on rt66 or as close to the current route as possible. here's my tip , start in Chicago and go to st Louis. get on 40. and stay there till Oklahoma, then rejoin 66 to Santa Monica. the Section you are skipping is not RT66. Old RT66 is the median strip of i40, not the little two lane jumping back and forth across 40. any of the tourist attractions are accessible from 40. but you skip the abandoned towns and knock several days off the trip.

I80 from Youngstown ohio to Buffalo New York is pretty nice. that is, if you want to go 600 miles without seeing a single city or town. It's wild how much interstates bypass

The 66 would be a lot better if it was taken care of. City of Flagstaff treats it like shit. It feels like every time Im on it, there's another pothole, derelict building, or more homeless people. I can't speak for how other states treat 66, but in AZ its treated like shit

I will agree with us 110% but I did a trip from Florida all the way up to Ontario taking the interstate was out of necessity but right before I got to Scranton, Pennsylvania and a little bit past Scranton, Pennsylvania the interstate highways with all the mountains surrounding them is some of the most beautiful sites I’ve ever seen personally and that is coming from a Canadian, who hasn’t explored all of my own country

I ended up on Route 66 for a little while when going to Vegas to avoid an accident... it was definitely cool to go through the small Towns and see the kinda time capsule

Im from denmark. been to the US a good amount of times, both coasts and the Midwest. Small town mid America was by far the most beautiful and the people were always super kind. That is the real America for me

I swear that “Route 66 bypassed by I-40” story is the quintessential emotionally manipulative fake-sad Pixar intro. Like I’m supposed to be sad about better connectivity and not having to go through Kansas on the way to Oklahoma anymore. Oh and that Rascal Flatts cover is trash.
