Bake the cake – Prepare the yellow cake mix according to the package directions using the water, oil, and eggs. Bake and allow to cool completely. Cut into cubes or crumble into large chunks. 2. Make pudding – In a large bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until thickened. 3. Layer the dessert – In a large punch bowl or trifle dish, layer half of the cake pieces, half of the pudding, half of the pineapple, half of the bananas, half of the cherry pie filling, and half of the whipped topping. 4. Repeat layers – Repeat the same layers with the remaining ingredients. 5. Top with pecans – Sprinkle chopped pecans over the final layer of whipped topping. 6.
