Just a friendly heads-up for visitors to Morocco: filming people on the street without their permission is generally frowned upon and can be against local norms and regulations. It's always best to ask for consent first to avoid any misunderstandings and to show respect for the local culture. Also, on a different note, you'll find that taxi fares here are quite a bargain! A trip that costs you €5 is actually a very fair local price. It's helpful to remember that the same journey would easily cost €20 or more in the UK or other parts of Europe.

casablanca is the worst for this. my husband is Moroccan and they still tried scamming us. One driver wanted to be our driver for the day and said we just need to pay him 200 dirhams for the whole day, but whilst we were in the hassan mosque or the mall he'd take other customers but to just call him when we needed him and he'll come and get us. We said thats fine, swapped numbers and we'll pay him at the end of the day. We went in the mosque spent 1.5 hours there, had 4 missed calls from him, then he took us to the shopping centre. We were only there for 20 minutes and he kept calling us, saying where do we want to go next etc, telling us to hurry up. My husband said come and take your money and leave us alone. he came into the shopping centre shouting at my husband demanding 400 dihrams. we spent no longer than 30 minutes in his taxi in total. he was getting really loud and aggressive because my husband would only give him 100 which was more than he deserved.

I swear we need more immigrants ..or call them expats, I don’t care 😂😂😂..(as long as it's not another colonial invasion 😂) to speak up for people’s rights here. Because let’s be real, the authorities and government? Practically perfect at ignoring us. Maybe some outside eyes, a little global attention, will finally make them pretend to do something. they won't let you in sometimes if it's not their direction even if the taxi is empty. 🚕 in Casablanca are the worse very rarely you find a decent taxi driver.
