“Love is an illness to a woman with so many goals.” I’ve always related to this thought because I am an academic achiever, a woman with countless dreams I’m determined to reach, and in many ways, an “investment” of my parents—a role that comes with so much pressure and responsibility. But in my case, I’m truly grateful, because instead of love becoming a distraction or a weakness, I have found a partner who has been my greatest source of strength.
My boyfriend has been my safe haven and the strongest support system I’ve ever had. He stood by me through my most difficult battles—especially during my therapy—never once letting me feel alone until I was fully healed. He showers me with love in ways both grand and simple: from spoiling me with his affection to cooking my cravings and making sure I am cared for in the little things. He treats me so right, so well, and with so much respect that I constantly feel valued and cherished.
What makes it even more special is how supportive and fond his family is of us. Their warmth reflects the kind of love he gives—genuine, unconditional, and deeply rooted in respect. And perhaps the most reassuring part of it all is that he has never spoken of a future without me. Every plan he shares, every dream he builds, he always includes me in it.
So while the world may see love as an illness to women with ambition, in my life, love has been the exact opposite—it has been healing, strength, and the safe space that allows me to pursue my goals without fear.
