6 months into pf and I think I’ve identified the root cause - 2 days almost pain free! All to do with how I sleep.

I recently had my right hip labrum and impingement fixed. Other than sore from PT I'm 100% pain free.

Surgery usually not necessary, but both those things can take months, not weeks, before they resolve. And people, especially runners, can get into a boom and bust cycle

How are your even walking with a torn labrum? I found out I have one a week ago and I’m in pain 😭 idk if it’s because I know it’s there now or what but it freaking sucks. Are you taking any pain meds maybe or how are you handling it?

If you only have a tear you don’t need surgery girl. It’s a tough one it can take a long time to resolve, 50% of people have torn hip labrum and don’t even know it, an MRI will show a lot of things. You have probably had the tear for a long time an MRI should be able to tell you if it’s chronic or recent. The question is why is it symptomatic, something has changed in your life to cause it

You need to figure out why it tore again. You need good images of your hip, more then you had originally. And a hip preservationist. And you can get a cadaver labrum resconstruction surgery instead of just a repair. Make sure you don’t have hip dysplasia or impingement that was fully addressed.

I had hip labral repair surgery and it failed and the tear either wasn’t completely closed or came back. When they put my hip joint back into the socket and inflamed the synovium. I’ve been having Cortizone injections into my groin/labral area for the last year. It helps a little bit, but now it’s starting to wear down the Cartlidge and they say joint replacement is the next option. I had hyaluronic acid injection. I wouldn’t recommend it. It made it more painful and didn’t help. The surgeon said if they redid the surgery again I would never be able to exercise again. There is new technology with artificial labrum replacement. I don’t think it’s in Canada, but it might be in the United States. I would look into that if I were you. Do your research. There’s lots of stuff on the Internet and where they do it. my hip was really bad and I couldn’t barely walk upstairs and that’s why I had the surgery. I’m an athlete. I can exercise but with limits because it gets very painful if I try to bike for example. Wishing you the best and I hope that you find a good solution. That’s a permanent fix. Find the best surgeon you can.

Surgery actually fixed my PF!! I was walking with a slight limp because of how bad it got and the PF would get worse bc of the weight imbalance. I’ll still get some tightness at times but it’s soooooooo much better now.

I had a labral tear 16.5 years ago. I did biomechanics-based exercises for it and I haven’t had pain in 16 years. I keep my movement up and it’s like it never happened. I didn’t do the surgery because it had such a small chance of lasting relief and I didn’t trust the injections. You can do that and it may help you like it did for me.

Look up GOATA. Better than any PT or MD I saw for my hip and back.

I've dealt with PF twice in my life. Most recently it lasted over 2 years. Bought some Asics Kayanos and it got better within 2 weeks. Hope it gets better.
