He’s not making a case for us shooting like that… he’s showing that anyone could attack you that way in a blink of an instant. And that’s why cops have to be so aware when approaching anyone. He’s showing that you could get attacked even before you can say “put your hands up”

So to clarify he is not asking for them to preform this drill, it’s just him showcasing how fast someone could be of danger to you in a situation. He is asking them if they could be able to counter that attack or be quicker than that. It’s giving them a realistic preparation for possible situations.

Range Safety Officer here. I get that he’s trying to teach a “real world lesson” here. Things do change in milliseconds and you have to be ready to defend yourself or others. However, this can be efficiently done without endangering an entire class. They make training platforms for this exact thing. Not only that, now this entire class is going to leave this session thinking that this is standard practice and potentially put others in danger.
