I honestly think Carlos still hasn’t gotten used to the fact that he’s not a Ferrari driver anymore and still hopes to return to them. He also said last week at Monza “driving at home” so…

As someone who loves loves Carlos… I agree. Ofc he should get some grace considering that a Ferrari and a Williams are very different…. Same problem Lewis has. But yeah, he needs to adjust his attitude. I loved him at Ferrari but a few race wins doesn’t mean he’s better than the midfield drivers… he’s obviously talented. But he needs to face his current situation. Besides, people love to downplay Alex bc he didn’t work out at RB, however, he shows time and time again that he’s actually really talented

Or just give the dude some time. You have to realize every track they go to this year is the first time he’s driving Williams at the track. There must be a big change in the PU between Ferrari and Merc. Lewis isn’t having any luck either with Ferrari.

this analysis, whilst reflective, hasn't aged brilliantly

like another take I've seen. the midfield is going to scrap for every point because it means that much more to them. the front aren't going to risk a crash often for a two point difference.

people forget Alex was a red bull driver. If he wasn't good he wouldn't have gotten into that team. just because he has been driving for Williams for couple years does not mean he is worse than Carlos

Alex has been driving a midfield car for years now, he understands how to get into points every chance he gets. His defence is amazing, he'll lead the midfield and will hold all of them back. Carlos went from Ferrari to Williams. Car is entirely different, & he's driving like he can't risk a crash, which is what drivers top of the field do. Once he understands how that's changed & how to maximise the car, I think he can flourish

Just an idea. Has the inclusion of Sainz potentially put the pressure off Alex? I just thought about this but with all the noise around Carlos maybe it’s allowed for Alex to thrive

I agree with you on all of these points. The only counter I will make: the DNFs may be the same, but the contact racing incidents are not. Carlos may have dragged the car to the end but after taking significant damage…not a fair comparison. Now are those collisions partly on him? Yes.

I'm a big Carlos fan but it's true he has a very different mentality this year. yes it's been frustrating not being able to gel with the car but he honestly went in with a negative mindset. Alex has always been a great driver, he's just finally in the spotlight again and the team is slowly improving to give them a capable car

this is a very good take, going from a Front running car to even an upper midfield car is a big change

You may have a point there. He was in the front group for most of the race yesterday and it did seem like he was in his element there more than when he’s in the middle of the pack or behind

100% true, Sainz needs to acknowledge he is in a midfield team and everyone will go full throttle against him, he needs to choose his battles

Yeah. Sainz is just like Hamilton. Bad few years in Mercedes against Russell, but now against Leclerc, Hamilton is shining! GOAT!

i'm calling it, he'd be an effective team shot caller after surfacing out of his situation post Ferrari just like Vettel and Alonso did
